Apostolic Interpretation

Å℘◎ṧт◎ℓḯḉ Їη☂℮ґρґℯ⊥α☂☤☺η :

"4 When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; For He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed — 5 Better not to vow than to vow and not pay. 6 Do not let your mouth cause your flesh to sin, nor say before the messenger of God that it was an error. Why should God be angry at your excuse and destroy the work of your hands?" (Eccl 5:4-6).

The above verse speaks that when a person promises God to pay something out of his pocket voluntarily for something good he will receive from the Lord, and once he gets it, then after a while say if he changes his mind to restrain himself from fulfilling what he has promised God because of coveteousness coming to fill his heart, God says this has serious consequences. This was what exactly happened in the first century apostolic Church in which a husband and wife lied to God the Holy Spirit and acted as though they are giving what they have promised to give to Lord but secretly took some of the money for their own safety, they were stuck dead by God for lying to Him, first the husband and then the wife died on the spot and fell down at the word of Apostle Peter who spoke under the anointing of the Holy Spirit of God (Acts 5:1-11). When the Scripture says it is "better not to vow" than to make "God be angry at your excuse and destroy the work of your hands," it very clearly reveals that God never entertains deceit and will reward the person who deceives Him with a clear reward of His displeasure by thus denying to keep safe that which He has given. If we are not serious about the words we speak, we should not speak. According to the above Scripture, our mouth has the ability to make our flesh sin. It is never good to lie or say that our promise to God was not serious and therefore is an error to the messenger of God who is considered by God as representing Himself. May God help us all to keep the word of promise which we give to God, and fulfill it in its time for God's pleasure as He fulfills our desires which are inline to His purpose, will and glory in His time.

Blessings....
